Don Chao Pu Forest Park
Originally, this area was a large dense rainforest. The villagers call it Dong Chao Ban, Don Pu Ta or Don Chao Pu. It was discovered by Prantee and Pranthong, two brothers of hunters who were disciples of Chao Phon Samed, and their settlement was in the south, away from Champasak to the north. The two hunters took their clans out for a hunt and headed for the west to wander for several days until reaching Dong Yai, seeing it was a good location with a vast pond and fertile creek, and it had a wide variety of animals. So, the two hunters returned to invite their group to settle down as villages in that area
At present, Don Chao Pu Forest Park covers an area of approximately 16 rai. It is a fertile forest area where many wild animals live, especially monkeys. And, there important Buddhist places namely; the Grandfather Shrine (Pranthi) located in the southeast of the big tree that was the original shrine. During the fifth lunar month (Merit Songkran) and the sixth month (Boon Bang Fai), the Phanaians come together to organize an event in this area and bring the rockets to offer to Chao Pu (Prantee) every year to bring prosperity to the Phana brothers and sisters.
